Join the Cao Lab – Engineering the Future of RNA and Programmable Biology

We are building a next-generation research program at the intersection of RNA therapeutics, nanotechnology, and programmable biological systems, with a unified vision:
to enable precise control of biological systems through engineered nucleic acids and advanced delivery technologies.

Who We are Looking for:

We are seeking highly motivated and talented individuals worldwide, including undergraduate and graduate students as well as postdoctoral researchers, with backgrounds in:

  • Nanotechnology / Materials Science

  • Molecular Biology / Synthetic Biology

  • RNA Biology / Bioengineering

  • Plant Biology (especially regeneration, gene editing, or cell wall biology)

  • Chemical Biology, Biophysics, or related fields

You should be:

  • Curious and willing to tackle unsolved, high-impact problems

  • Comfortable working in a highly interdisciplinary environment

  • Ambitious, with a strong desire to publish in top-tier journals (Nature, Science, etc.)

  • Interested in both fundamental science and translational applications

What We Offer

  • A frontier research environment tackling globally important problems

  • Opportunities to work on high-impact projects with publication potential in top journals

  • Close mentorship and training in scientific thinking, storytelling, and strategy

  • Exposure to translational research and startup opportunities

Why Join Us

Biology is entering an era of programmability.
RNA is becoming a universal language of control, and delivery is the key to unlocking its full potential.

Our lab is not just solving incremental problems—we are building:

  • New delivery paradigms

  • New RNA engineering frameworks

  • New biological manufacturing systems

If you want to work on problems that can reshape medicine, agriculture, and biotechnology, this is the place.
